Why have a website (information page)?

A web site is a page of information on the internet, that can be looked at by you and thousands of others around the world.

You can put whatever you want on your website (text, pictures etc.) and it can be found at whatever address you choose (the address is the part you type in after www.)

What we do?

Find the address they pick for their website, register it, and put it onto the internet for them to access.

Why should I have my own Domain (Internet address) you might ask?

  1. It is your own personal signature on the world wide web (WWW)
  2. It is a place that identifies with you and no one else
  3. It is a place friends, relatives and family can come to for updates on upcoming events and activities along with lots of room for pictures if need be...
  4. For your business and product information so you can better sell yourself and your services.
  5. Your own email address for you and other family members at that domain to be yours for as long as you own the Domain (internet address).
  6. Even if you change Internet service providers your domain and email address always stays the same.
  7. To have your own domain has a professional look for you, your family and company.
  8. Advertising in any type of newspaper is expensive but using your own domain to advertise cost a fraction of any add with coverage that spans the whole globe.
  9. If you are a business you can explain how to find your place of business and include a map.
  10.  It is a touch of class

1. What is a domain name?

A domain name is the user-friendly form of an Internet Protocol (IP) address. Each computer that is connected to the Internet has its own unique address. This unique IP address is a string of numbers that can be difficult to remember. The computer's IP address is therefore designated by a string of letters that is easier to remember. For example, the domain name “www.icann.org” is easier to remember than its corresponding IP address, 192.0.34.65.

The Domain Name System (DNS), which is essentially a global addressing system, allows Internet users around the world to go to a specific website address by entering its corresponding domain name. DNS does this by locating and translating domain names into IP addresses.

2. What is a gTLD?

A gTLD is a generic top-level domain. The gTLD of an Internet address appears to the right of the “dot” in the address. GTLDs include the familiar .com, .net, and .org as well as seven new gTLDs that were added in 2000. These seven new gTLDs are” .aero (for the aviation community), .biz (for business purposes), .coop (for cooperatives), .info (unrestricted), .museum (for museums), .name (for personal names) and .pro (for professionals).

3. What is a ccTLD?

A ccTLD is a country-code top-level domain, for example .mx for Mexico and .ca for Canada. These ccTLDs are administered by nationally designated registration authorities. There are currently 243 ccTLDs, as recorded by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

4. Who administers the DNS?

ICANN administers the DNS. This organization was created by members of the Internet community in response to a June 1998 White Paper issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) under the National Telecommunications and Information Administration Agency.

ICANN is responsible for facilitating the technical, managerial and policy decisions of the Internet. Although ICANN administers certain DNS functions, actual registration of domain names is delegated to various accredited registrars. Individual countries control their respective ccTLDs country codes and establish their own policies for registration and use.

5. How do you register a domain name?

A variety of registrars are available through blizzardnet for registering domain names ending with .biz, .com, .info, .ca, .name, .net or .org.  After the registrant has provided contact and technical information to the chosen registrar, the registrar then submits the technical information to a central directory known as the "registry." This registry provides other computers on the Internet the necessary information to send you email or locate your website. When a domain name is registered, an entry is included into a directory of all the domain names and their corresponding computers on the Internet.  This process can be done quickly and safely by blizzardnet.com.
